Intelligent Ghosts
Banishing a ghost can be as simple as asking it to leave. Just like living people, many ghosts will not stay where they know they are not wanted. For more stubborn ghosts, the living residents may have to take back control of the situation and demand that the ghost depart. In cases that prove exceptionally resistant, living residents can try insulting or annoying the ghosts with things they know the ghost does not like. In this way, the ghost may be induced to leave. Ignoring the ghost may also work (or it could escalate the haunting, depending on the ghost’s motivation). Religious rituals can also work to banish a ghost, but only in cases where the ghost or the living people believe it will work.
