Orbs

   As you make your way through this site, you may have noticed at least one major difference between this site and others. There is a distinct lack of orbs. There is a multitude of reasons for this. In fact, the controversy surrounding orbs was a contributing factor in the formation of D&A Paranormal Investigators. The founding members were both disturbed by site after site showing picture upon picture with orbs.

   There is no doubt that orbs show up in photographs. But what this signifies is a major point of contention. There are those that think orbs represent the energy present when there is paranormal activity. This is not a belief shared by D&A Paranormal Investigators.

   Many times, the “orbs” that turn up in photos are easily explainable. Dust, rain, snow and reflections off of surfaces can all show up as “orbs”. Digital cameras are particularly prone to this phenomenon. “Vortexes” have similar problems, in that they are often easily explainable as camera straps or other objects which have mistakenly come into frame.

   Not all orbs are dust, rain, etc. It is true that an orb can be a form of free- floating energy. However, this in no way means that they are evidence of ghosts. Energy can be released into a room simply by faulty wiring.

   This is not to say that no orb is good as evidence of some paranormal activity. Ghost Hunters once caught on video tape something that looked like an orb pass through one wall, cross a hallway and pass through the opposite wall. Strange behavior for a ball of energy. Certainly intriguing and well worth keeping in mind when gathering other evidence.

   However, because they are beset by so many problems and there cannot be a clear connection made between ghosts and orbs, you will see precious little of them here.
